Sports Leaders Encourage Youngsters

On Tuesday 26 January, eight students from Chasetown Specialist Sports College led an Indoor Athletics Pentathlon event for pupils at Chasetown Community School. This is part of an initiative developed by the Youth Sport Trust to encourage youngsters to become more involved in Sport whether participating or volunteering and delivered by the Burntwood and Lichfield School Sport Partnership.

The children aged 6-9 were given demonstrations and coached by the PE students from the Sports College and then the children attempted the events in a competitive situation whilst being judged and scored by the Chasetown Sports College volunteers.

The children thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the older pupils and their teachers were also very impressed with the rapport that was established. The activities were new to the children and CSSC pupils worked hard to encourage them and to improve their results.

Congratulations on their efforts and a big thank you from the children at Chasetown Community School goes to: Richard Gough , Emily Graffy, Elle Paxton, Charlotte Place, Franci Roelake, Sam Snape, Danny Poole and Michael Howden – the willing volunteers from the Sports College pictured below.
